Father, each one of us has a role to play in Your Kingdom. For many of us, our role is brief and for a specific purpose. We die after our purpose is complete. For others, such as the apostle John, You may have purposes for them that necessitate they have a long life. Father, what I ask is that Your purposes for my life are accomplished within whatever time I have left. Father, for the sake of being humble before You, please lead me to have a following that consists only of the number of lives that You want me to touch and no more. Please help me to give You my best by giving me the best of the tools and resources I need to do Your work with excellence. I don’t ask for anything more than what I need to do such work well. Amen.

Jesus, I want to know You. I want to have a personal relationship with You, so much so that I am welcomed into Your eternal home. Who can I share the gospel with today? Who have You appointed to hear the gospel from me today? Please tell me. Please make me a rock of faith. Stable. Rooted in Christ. Unshaken by the ever-changing circumstances of life. Please “find” my loved ones and bring them to faith in Jesus Christ. Please use me as You see fit in the work of bringing salvation to those I love the most. Are there biases in my heart that prevent me from sharing the gospel with others? Please cleanse me of them. Please let it be said of me that there is no deceit in my heart. Please lead my heart to study Your Word so that You find me having devotions when You are looking for me. Amen.

Father, I want to have the spirit of humility and contriteness in my heart. I want to tremble at Your Word, as it says in Isaiah 66:2. Please help me to see myself in contrast to Jesus Christ as John saw himself. Please give me a fearlessness in my walk with Christ. Give me courage to speak the truth in love, to preach and teach the gospel, and to minister with abundant grace to people in messy situations. Amen.

Father, please help me to believe that Jesus Christ was fully human. There are many false doctrines that deny His humanity. He is my advocate before You because He has experienced what it means to be a human, though without sin. Father, I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I want to bear the fruits in totality of His work in my heart. I also ask that in those inevitable seasons of adversity in my life that my character will reflect the wonderful work the Holy Spirit has done to transform my heart. Father, I don’t want to discredit Your work in my heart when I am feeling sick or tired. Please help me to consistently show the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, even when I feel weary. Father, I want to know the Word of God.
