Father, if Jesus needed to seek guidance and wisdom from You before He made a decision, how much more should I? Please make me a man who “inquires of the Lord” before I make key decisions in my life. Amen.

Father, crowds of people have come from all over Palestine to hear Jesus teach and to be healed. It is now time for Jesus’ ministry to move to the next phase. Up until now, the ministry has been essentially Him working alone with His disciples being mere volunteers. He is now going to officially invite them to become a part of His team, giving them the authority to teach and to cast out demons (Mark 3:15).

The large crowd of people around Jesus consisted of:

1. A growing number of disciples, more than the individuals we have been introduced to thus far.
2. The people who have come to receive healing from Jesus.

Father, You bring people into my life to whom You have called me to minister. Help me to welcome them. Help me to not resent their interruption or intrusion. Help me to prioritize those who You have brought to me to hear what You’ve prepared for me to say to them or to experience the good works You’ve prepared for me to do for them. Help me to say what You want me to say and to do what You want me to do. Amen.

Father, I love Your law. It provides a clear roadmap to a good life, a life of peace and joy. It is by following Your law that we avoid trouble. The sum total of all of Your law is to love – love You and love our neighbors. Father, please help me to be responsible to people’s needs, even those who are breaking Your law. It may be by my love for them, in their darkest hour, that they learn that it is good to follow the laws of the God who loved them through me. Father, the world cannot win an argument that challenges Your Word. The world cannot win a debate that contradicts the truths found in Scripture. Those who are in Christ have access, through the Holy Spirit, to the wisdom of the ages. Father, please give me the wisdom that derails the arguments of the godless. Please give me reason and logic, like Jesus had, that is insurmountable by those who challenge my faith. Amen.

Father, I confess that I often struggle with judging others. I see them disobey Your law and Your commands. My heart breaks about that because I love Your ways. I tend to judge them in my heart, if not with my words and actions. Father, please help me to look beyond people’s sin and to love their hearts so much that I want to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to them no matter how they disobey You. I want to show them the love of Christ by ministering to their needs. Once they become believers, I want to disciple them about living obediently to Your law. In the meantime, help me to encourage them to embrace the gospel by demonstrating to them how much You love them. Amen.

Father, if there is anything about my character or my thought life that places more faith in a thing, a person, a place, a situation, or a circumstance more than I have faith in You, please forgive me. Help me to see where my idols are and please help me to let go of them. Father, I want to be healed by Jesus in every way that I need to be healed. I want my soul to be healed so that I will spend eternity with You. I want my character to be healed so that I reflect the character of Jesus in everything I do and speak. Father, if there is anything about me that clings on to weakness, brokenness, anxiety, or insecurity because I think it serves me, please help me to let go.
